We’re On The Same Boat

On Friday the 26th, we drove to Houston to get my American Passport and Paul’s Colombian Visa, and we stayed at our new friends and adoption colleagues Lina & Elias, they also received a referral of a baby girl, their daughter is in Medellin and they are actually receiving her today! How exciting!!!
It was very nice to share our little “insider stories” those kind of stories that just the few who have been down this journey are interested of hearing, the paperwork, the agencies, the anxiety, the frustration, etc. We had dinner in a restaurant located in a nice area of Houston we had never been to, and talked so much and laughed so hard that it was actually pretty relaxing.  We were wondering how we will be with our daughters the next time see each other and life would have changed so much…
Thank you Lina & Elias for your hospitality and we have you today and everyday in our minds and prayers.

Then on Sunday, we met Liliana & Michael, they live in SA too, and they were referred to the a baby boy, their Presentation Day or “entrega” will be next Friday and they also shared their stories, family jokes and whatnot.  Somehow I forgot to take a photo of our Colombian Lunch… but you can follow their journey at their blog http://oakesadoption.blogspot.com/

We met with other adoptive parents who brought their children to the lunch and it was very nice to see how good they look with their cute families and how well adjusted their children are. But, I have to say the real treat was meeting with somebody who is right on the same boat than us, it was our adoptive version of the prenatal class, you know… all the mothers to term, wondering about how their delivery day will be, the expectations, the hope, the same feelings when you see their little rooms and cute little clothes and to wonder how will they look with them on, what a blessing.
